China

The town of China, not the country in the Far East, is a town of lakes.  China lake encompasses the northwest half of the town, while Three Mile Pond fills the southwest corner. This town has a population of approximately 4200 people.  Many people pass through China on Route 3 on their way to the coast every year.  China offers two villages depending on which end of the big lake that one is on.  The village of South China has a professional building, four convenience stores (one with a Subway), a few coffee shops, and several other businesses. 

The children in China attend the China school until 8th grade where most then go on to Erskine Academy. China is part of School Union #52.

The tax rate in China is $17.64 per thousand for 2005. The China town office is open Monday-Friday 7:30-4 and on Saturday 8-1. The town office is located on Lakeshore Drive (Route 202) just north of Alder Park Road.
