Chelsea

The town of Chelsea is a bedroom community of Augusta.  The population is just over 2600.  One edge of the town is bordered by the Togus Veterans Hospital which is actually in Augusta. 

Children attend the Chelsea Elementary school until 8th grade, and then go on to area high schools including Cony High School in Augusta, Hall-Dale High School in Farmingdale, and Gardiner High school in Gardiner. 

The tax rate in Chelsea is $15.7 per thousand for 2005. The town office in Chelsea is open Monday-Friday 9-4, and on the last Thursday of the month it is open 10-6.  The town office is located at 560 Togus Road (Route 226) next to the Chelsea Elementary School.
